Canter Safari in Tadoba
What Is a Canter Safari?
A canter safari in Tadoba National Park is a shared wildlife tour in an open vehicle that carries around 16 – 20 visitors. Managed by the forest department, it’s perfect for those who don’t get a jeep permit or prefer to travel in larger groups. Each canter is accompanied by a trained naturalist and driver who help spot animals, share insights about the forest, and ensure safety during the ride.
The canter follows similar routes as jeep safaris and covers major zones like Moharli, Tadoba, and Kolsa. Visitors often get to see tigers, leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs, gaur, deer, and many bird species. With its elevated seating, the canter offers wide visibility and good angles for photography, making it a convenient and enjoyable way to explore Tadoba’s wilderness.
